Registrations to ESEIW 2018 are now open

The registration fees can be paid with major credit cards (Visa, Visa Electron, Visa Debit, MasterCard and Debit MasterCard and American Express), with Finnish online bank or via invoice (an invoicing fee of 10€ will be added to the total fee). When proceeding to the registration form, please keep the correct invoice address at hand. Note that the registration is binding, please read through the cancellation terms below.

For an additional fee you are welcomed to bring an accompanying person to the ISERN and/or ESEM Banquet Dinner. During registration, you can also choose to take part in a guided tour on October 9, 2018. The minimum group size is 15 persons and the maximum group size is 50 persons.

The registration fees cover the conference materials, the scientific program, lunch, and coffee/tea according to the chosen event as well as the Welcome reception . Note that the registration fees are exclusive of VAT.

Cancellation Policy - Registration
The registration is binding. Notifications, amendments and cancellations must be made in writing via an email sent to Konffa Ltd, eseiw@konffa.fi. The fee for any amendment is 10 € per registration. Should there be any mistakes in the given registration details, the correction fee will be 10 €.
Cancellations will be accepted until 31 August 2018 with a refund on all paid fees, less an administration charge of 50 €.
No refunds will be given after this date.
If you are unable to attend, a substitute from your institute or organization may attend in your place after a notification e-mail is sent to eseiw@konffa.fi.
Force Majeure, health related issues:
Should an insuperable obstacle arise in terms of the registrant’s health, the refund will be made in full, less an administration charge of 50€. An application for cancellation must be made in writing (by e-mail or airmail) to Konffa Ltd. Further, an official and original medical certificate must be presented within two (2) weeks of the cancellation notification.
All-inclusive travel insurance is recommended.

TRAVELING TO OULU
The Schengen states have jointly agreed upon which countries’ citizens are required to present a visa. Each Schengen state decides which passports and travel documents it accepts from citizens of different countries.

Oulu airport is located 15 km from the city center. There are two airlines that fly to
Oulu via Helsinki.

Traveling to Oulu by train
You can also choose a train connection from Helsinki to Oulu. The travel time is approximately 6 hours depending on the train.

Public transport in Oulu
Bus from the airport to the Oulu city center takes 20 minutes.You can purchase single tickets from the bus using cash or trough the Oulu public transport ticket app. An additional nighttime fare (double fare) will be charged between 11pm and 4:30am.
Bus number 8 or 9 (operated by Oulun Joukkoliikenne) runs between the airport (Oulun lentoasema) and city center (Keskusta). Link to bus 8 or 9 timetable

Oulu City Hall is the seat for the municipal government of the City of Oulu, Finland.
The neo-renaissance style city hall was designed by a Swedish architect Johan Erik Stenberg as the restaurant and hotel Seurahuone in 1885. The third floor was added and other major changes made in 1920 according to plans of architect Oiva Kallio. Some of the changes were reversed during the renovation in 1978–1982, for example the doors were restored to their original location.[2]
The city council has assembled in the city hall since 21 December 1920 and the municipal government since 7 January 1931.

Hotel Lasaretti, an old provincial hospital area, is located on the beautiful island of Lasaretinsaari, very close to the city center. Lasaretti’s rooms overlook the Oulujoki River and the park-like yard of the former county hospital’s historical building, which was constructed in 1849. The hotel itself was completed in the 1920s. All ESEIW events will be held at Lasaretti.

ADVENTURE INTO THE WILDERNESS
GUIDED TOUR ON A DOUBLE-DECKER BUS
Welcome to the wilderness of the Polar night! The group will assemble at Hotel Lasaretti. After guests are equipped with warm overalls (if needed), a double-decker Snow Express bus will pick up the group, and the adventure can begin!
The guided tour includes a trip to the wilderness chasing the famous Northern Lights: let’s hope to catch them! There’s much more to this trip, however; you will get to experience the natural surroundings in Finland during the darkest times of the year. Only candle light will be used, no electric lights, like in the old days. The only other source of light will be the stars in the sky—and perhaps the famous Northern Lights! The bus ride will cover the Oulu area, where you can take in the wilderness while chasing the Northern Lights. You can enjoy the landscape as well as listen to stories about the Northern Lights and life in the wilderness.
Come and experience the unforgettable silence and darkness of the wilderness, without electric lights to disturb the experience. We will also see the river running freely in Koiteli, so you can enjoy the sound of the flowing water amidst the breath-taking scenery.
The lower deck of the bus is heated, and when we stop, you can take photos from upper deck, which provides better access to the outdoors. Alternatively, you can hop off the bus and dive into the spectacular show of nature. During the trip, guests will be provided warm drinks and sausages grilled over an open camp fire.

If you wish to take part in the guided tour, please preregister for it in conjunction with the conference registration by September 10, 2018.
The price per person is 160€, inclusive of 24% VAT.
